SHARP's Mission and Vision

The SHARP MISSION

To challenge Shaftesbury students to design, construct, test and fly high altitude robots whether they are radio controlled or autonomous aircraft, scientific payloads flown on high altitude balloons or even satellites in space, so that students may explore their potential.

The SHARP VISION

‘Caelum certe patet, ibimus illi’

‘Surely the sky lies open, let us go that way’

These are the words of Daedalus in Ovid's Metamorphoses, Book VIII, when he is contemplating a means of escape from Crete and determines that the sky is the only path open to him.
