SHARP Recognition

The Shaftesbury High Altitude Robotics Project would like to recognize the support it has received from grants and awards.

 

SHARP coordinators Rob Striemer, April McKnight and Adrian Deakin received a Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence from Prime Minister Stephen Harper  and the Industry Canada, Space Educator Award from astronaut Robert Thirsk. The SHARP teacher-coordinators also received the Minister's Award for Excellence in Teaching (Team) for 2012 from Manitoba Education Minister Nancy Allan. The award was presented at the Manitoba Legislature.

Project Description: Grade 9 to 12 students design and build high altitude balloons carrying scientific payloads with the support of HAM radio specialists, the Canadian Space Agency, as well as electrical and computer engineers.
